Typhoon Haiyan made landfall on 8 November 2013, causing deaths, injuries and extensive damages to housing, livelihoods and infrastructure across nine of the Philippines’ poorest provinces. According to the authorities, 16 million people were affected, four million displaced and at least 6,300 confirmed dead.

Under the integrated Red Cross Recovery Framework for the Haiyan Operation developed shortly after the typhoon hit, the Swiss Red Cross (SRC) implemented recovery projects in collaboration with other components of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, with the Philippines Red Cross (PRC) as its implementing partner.
